ISO 13469:2014 specifies the requirements for the testing procedures for interference-fit/form-fit blind rivet joints and lock bolt joints made of metallicand non-metallic materials. The tests required for a particular joint depend upon the performance requirements of the component/assembly and shall be established before any testing is undertaken. The term sheet as used in ISO 13469:2014 includes extrusions, cast material, plastics, and fibre-reinforced plastics, e. g. carbon and glass fibre-reinforced plastics. ISO 13469:2014 does not apply to civil engineering applications such as metal building and steel construction which are covered by other applicable International Standards.

Overview

ISO 13469:2014 - Mechanical joining: form-fit / interference-fit blind rivets and (lock) bolt joints - specifies requirements and qualification of testing procedures for joints made from metallic and non‑metallic materials (including extrusions, cast materials, plastics and fibre‑reinforced plastics such as carbon and glass). The standard defines how to prepare, test and report destructive and non‑destructive examinations of rivet and lock‑bolt joints used in assemblies, excluding civil engineering applications (metal building and steel construction).

- Tensile shear tests (single or double shear) with recording of force vs. elongation to detect slippage and maximum load.
- Cross‑tension, mechanized peel, fatigue/endurance tests as required by performance needs.
Reporting & evaluation: Test results and a single joint specimen test report (JPQR) must document loads, failure modes, and any slippage or endurance behaviour.
